The Women AI Misses AI News Misses Women  WomenAILabs is engaging the community in a AmplifyHER newsroom Challenge. A  global study of how a NewsRoom can change who gets seen.

Who is shaping AI while the headlines look elsewhere?

Across communities and industries, women identify harms, build tools, teach new skills, and change how AI serves people. Yet their work can remain invisible until someone with a larger platform notice. By then, the chance to support the work as it happens may have passed.

AI researcher Joy Buolamwini has described why stories matter:

“Storytelling has the power to shift perspectives, galvanize change, alter damaging patterns.”

That idea drives AmplifyHER™, the WomenAILabs Equitable AI Newsroom. We will find women doing consequential work worldwide,  and ask more than Who is she? We’ll ask: What happened? What pattern does the evidence reveal? What did people build in response? What changed?

Then we’ll measure the newsroom’s impact. For each story, we’ll establish a baseline before publication. After we publish and share it, we’ll track reach, engagement, introductions, invitations, and opportunities. As a result, we can learn which stories and distribution choices help women get seen—and which lead to meaningful change.

Writers, editors, producers, and social media influencers: help us build and test this newsroom. Bring your skills, nominate a woman whose work deserves attention, or help a story reach the people who can act on it.

Who are we missing? Whose story must be seen now?
